Alsa, the mobility company, attended the International Tourism Fair Madrid 2022 to showcase its products and services targeted at to the tourism sector, with particular focus on more sustainable tourism.

Alsa´s stand showcased the Autonomous Bus operated by Alsa at the Universidad Autonoma of Madrid, the first vehicle with these characteristics operated in Spain on alongside real traffic.

Francisco Iglesias, Alsa CEO, said “The bus plays a key role in the tourist sector, making a significant contribution to its value chain. Alsa plays a significant role delivering a more sustainable mobility, as travelling by bus emits 5.5 less emissions than a private vehicle. Transport by bus is a key solution for sustainable tourism.”

The extensive network of national and regional services operated by Alsa offer comprehensive connections and coverage with more than 5,000 destinations, small and large, across Spain. 30% of the customers reasons to travel, about 50% in holiday periods, are tourism or leisure.

“Bus is by far the majority transport mode used by Spanish citizens to travel to their main tourist spots and destinations, either urban journeys, beach, mountain or cultural destinations. Therefore, supporting access to destinations by bus contributes to more sustainable tourism”, he said.

SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR  THE TOURIST SECTOR

Alsa is promoting its sustainable mobility solutions particularly as a way to access to protected natural areas. It showcased the service to the Covadonga Lakes in the National Park of Picos de Europa, launched by the Transport Consortium of Asturias and operated by Alsa, that last year was used by more than 240,000 visitors.

Other tourism products services offered by Alsa are services for tour operators, panoramic tourist buses, such as the Madrid City Tour, the Tourist Train of Felipe II, operating between Madrid and El Escorial, and last mile mobility solutions provided by AlsaCab.
