National Express, the UK’s largest coach operator, is supporting students through the cost of living crisis by freezing its young persons coachcard once again at 2019 prices - remaining at £15 per year or £30 for three years.
Providing a third off fares for travel across the UK, whether to visit family, attend work experience or a weekend getaway with friends, the price freeze on a National Express coachcard gives students a helping hand at a time of increased financial pressure.
Travel plays a significant role in students' lives and according to a recent national money survey by Save The Student, they spend on average £54 per month on transport alone - the third largest expense after household bills and groceries.
John Boughton, commercial director at National Express UK Coach, explains: “We know that students are worried about making ends meet during their time at university and we are here to help. Coach travel is an affordable, reliable and sustainable way to get around. It’s cheaper than rail and good for the environment as the least carbon-intensive public transport option. We hope that by freezing our coachcard prices for the third year running, students are encouraged to make the switch and can plan those trips without breaking the bank.”
National Express operates high-frequency scheduled services on the newest and greenest coach fleet, connecting hundreds of destinations across the UK, including 10 university stops. Passengers can expect a safe and comfortable experience on board, with leather reclining seats, free wi-fi, air conditioning, USB power sockets and a generous luggage allowance of up to 20kg.
National Express Young Persons Coachcard is available to anyone age 16-26, saving a third off all standard and fully flexible fares, £15 day return anywhere in the UK (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and 15% off travel to events and festivals, all for just £15 a year (£12.50 + £2.50 postage) or £30 for three years, offering even greater value during the entire time at university.
