National Express West Midlands bus service changes from 4th September 2022
22 August 2022 3:36 PM
National Express West Midlands is making changes to bus services from 4th September, with revised timetable frequencies to cater for an increase in travel following the summer holidays.
The latest confirmed changes will improve journeys by adjusting services to meet customer demand and take into account the expected rise in traffic from September.
Several areas will see minor adjustments to bus frequencies and timings. Birmingham’s service 27S will no longer operate with customers able to use the 27 and 76 as alternatives. A new service 58S will also replace the 897 from Lode Heath School. Service 11S in the Black Country will no longer operate with customers able to use the 11 and 11A, which run up to every 10 minutes.
Chris Gibbens, Commercial Director for National Express West Midlands, said:
“Children are going back to school in September, so roads will be busier with more people travelling. These latest timetable improvements will help keep the region moving by enabling our buses to get our customers to where they need to be.
“A small number of services are changing to better serve the travel patterns of our customers, as well as bringing overall improvements for everybody - at the same great price. So we’d like to remind customers to please check the latest timetables before they travel.
“Recent cost increases have affected many people across the West Midlands, so we’re working hard to make it easier for new and existing customers to save some money. Our fares remain frozen and we’ve introduced new ways of paying, with customers now able to purchase any onboard ticket using their contactless card or phone.”
In summer 2021, National Express West Midlands was the first company outside London to introduce contactless weekly capping, meaning customers can travel as much as they like and at the end of seven days, they will be charged no more than the cost of a weekly ticket - however many journeys they make.
The leading bus operator has now gone one step further to introduce easy ways to pay for other tickets. National Express West Midlands is providing customers the added flexibility of using contactless to purchase any onboard ticket, including group tickets and £1 child add-ons.
