Mobico Group’s Spanish business, Alsa, has taken a step further in its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, by becoming the first Spanish mobility company to be a benefactor partner of Fundación Diversidad.

Alsa’s collaboration with Fundación Diversidad began in 2013 when the business signed the Diversity Charter, promoted by the European Commission, and managed in Spain by Fundación Diversidad. The move saw Alsa reinforce its commitment to more inclusive and diverse working environments.

Now, Alsa is going one step forward by joining the foundation's exclusive group of corporate benefactor partners of the foundation.

The joining event took place this week at Alsa´s headquarters in Madrid, with the Patron of Fundación Diversidad, Bisila Bokoko, delivering a talk about the importance of diversity in companies, and the value of equity and inclusion in today's business world as a source of growth and competitiveness.

Ruth Hernández, People and Culture Director, Alsa, said: “In Alsa, we want to be a true reflection of the diverse society in which we operate and aspire to become a benchmark for diversity and inclusion in the mobility sector. Therefore, our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy is boosted from the Executive Committee. Also, we have created a Global Committee with the presence of all the General Divisions, and six Local Committees to ensure the implementation and monitoring of the strategy at all levels”.

Bisila Bokoko also highlighted that the “commitment by the companies in Spain to diversity and inclusion must be an example to follow. It is inspiring to see companies taking firm steps toward a more equitable future. That a company with the impact and reach of Alsa joins the Foundation is extraordinary news and strengthens one of our greatest current challenges: diversity as a driver of greater innovation and economic growth”.

Alsa’s DEI strategy focuses on three main pillars: culture, disability and gender. With presence in Spain, France, Morocco, Portugal and Switzerland, the company focuses on highlighting the traditions of different countries, and ensuring communication with the workforce is available in multiple languages. Likewise, the company's commitment to the labour integration of people with disabilities is reflected in programmes such as... “What are you capable of?”, aimed at the training in driving for people with disabilities; while the efforts in gender equality are translated, among others, in scholarships programmes for women to finance the driving licence D+CAP, with the commitment to hiring. This programme has benefited 150 women in 2024.

As a benefactor partner, Alsa joined a selected group of people including Admiral Seguros, Alcon, Allianz, AXA, BASF, BBi Communication, BBVA, BD, Bunzl, CaixaBank, Clarios, Diageo, Iberdrola, JTI, LATAM Airlines, Leroy Merlin, Lilly, MASORANGE, Moeve, Nationale-Nederlanden, Provital Group, Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, Richemont, Sacyr, Towa Pharmaceuticals, UCI and Vivofácil.

Alsa, with a team of 17,000 professionals who serve more than 580 million passengers each year, continues to drive initiatives that promote diversity and equity, consolidating its leadership not only in the mobility sector but also in social commitment.
